On completion of the course students should be able to:
- Articulate basic medical terminology in nursing and specifically for individuals with dementia
- Interpret basic medical calculations required for medication practice, recording keeping, including dosage calculations, and reading medication labels
- Conceptualise how medicines are used safely and when to report any anomalies to the registered nurse, in accordance with the medicines regulatory system and evidence-based medicine information
- Assess and escalate issues of concern according to organisational procedures
- Medical terminology
- Numeracy and basic medication calculation skills and practice
- Communication skills and escalation of care

The Microcredential can be taken as a stand-alone course. Additionally, it can be combined with other Microcredentials offered by UniSQ to achieve a total of 1.0 unit of credit. Partial credit cannot be awarded. To be eligible for credit you must successfully complete a stack of UniSQ Microcredentials that, when combined, equal 1.0 unit of credit.
