Walking Into A Toxic Team

Influencing team culture to create a positive environment

Dysfunctional teams greatly affect the quality of output.

This course will help leaders understand the nature and characteristics of toxic teams, and how to identify existing and future problems. You will also learn how leadership styles and behaviours can facilitate productive team behaviours.

This course has a four-week teaching period requiring a total of approximately 40 hours of learning. All course learning materials are available on demand.

Assessment

To be eligible for a digital badge for this course, you will need to successfully complete an assessment which includes:

  • A leadership theory for your workplace/professional context
  • An action plan
  • The optional assessment is due at the beginning of week 7
University level expertise
Bernadette Lynch is a management lecturer at the University of Southern Queensland. Her research interests are in the areas of business education, organisational culture and communities of practice. She was awarded an Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) citation in 2008 with an Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning Team Award.

Walking into a Toxic Team can be taken as a stand-alone course, or it can be completed as one of four Microcredentials that stack together for credit for the one unit course Leading Teams to Success (MGT8037).
