What is a digital badge?

A digital badge is a form of credential – a digital certification indicating an area of knowledge. Students who successfully complete a course will receive a digital badge for use on their LinkedIn, website, or resumé.

UniSQ uses My eQuals to issue UpSkill badges. This is the official platform of Australian and New Zealand tertiary education providers. It provides secure access to all certified official transcripts and degree documentation.

Through My eQuals students can access their digital badges alongside any Australian or New Zealand degree documentation they have already earnt or may earn in the future.

Students who withdraw before the third business day of the first week of the course are eligible for a full refund of the course fee. After this, students may withdraw from the course but will be ineligible for a refund.

For courses delivered as part of the Federal Government Microcredentials Pilot in Higher Education, students will be able to withdraw from the course up until the census date, without financial penalty.

Are there prerequisites for doing an UpSkill course?

In order to be eligible to enrol in a UniSQ Upskill course, we require:

  • • That you be at least 18 years old.
  • • That you have a sufficient understanding of English to undertake a fully course delivered and assessed in English.
  • • The ability to find and synthesise information in a way that solves problems in a professional context. UniSQ Upskill courses are designed for emerging and existing professionals so it will be an advantage to have either a qualification or some experience in the workplace.
How long does it take to complete an UpSkill course?

UpSkill course duration is between 4 and 14 weeks (depending on the specific course). This includes content, readings, activities, your extra reading and completing the assessment.

Students will have access to the entire course from their first day and are able to complete the content at their own pace within the study period.

Yes. Assessment tasks are a component of all courses. The assessment tasks are not mandatory. However, to be awarded a digital badge and be eligible for credit (if applicable), successful completion of the assessment tasks is required.
Can I earn credit for completing an UpSkill course?

On successful completion of four UniSQ Upskill courses from the same course suite (i.e. the first six letters and numbers of the course codes are the same), eligible students can apply to the University of Southern Queensland to have this recognised as 1 unit of credit towards an existing UniSQ degree program.

Successful completion of courses delivered as part of the Federal Government Microcredentials Pilot in Higher Education, will result in the award of 2 units of credit, that eligible students may be able to have recognised as credit towards an existing UniSQ degree program.

To gain admission into a UniSQ degree program where credit is applicable requires meeting the program entry requirements.
